Many reviews said this movie is good for all ages, but in reality, students slept during the movie. It is a good movie, but not enjoyable for a new generation. Every single student who saw the movie said that it was horrible. It's probably because this is an old movie. They said the costumes, movie set, acting, and CG were all terrible. Students said "Costumes looked very cheap, movie set was made of plastic. Also, they were crying but no tears were on their faces". I think so too, it wasn't fun. But it was a charming movie in the 1930s, and there was no technology to make the movie look like modern movies. This movie is a great classic movie and most people think this is timeless movie. I don't know well about classic movies, so I don't know how the technology was in the 1930s, but I believe that this movie is more advanced than most films during that time.
The black-and-white setting in Kansas was a great idea, which showed Dorothy's thoughts about how boring life was in Kansas . Also it was beautiful when it changed to the color in Munchikin Land. The yellow brick road was a wonderful color scene. This movie was recorded in black-and-white and then colored on the film. So if we consider about this, this movie was colorful.
The casting for Dorothy was very good. She really looked like a pure Kansas girl. Her dance and smile made this movie brighter. This is one of the most successful movie musicals and the OST "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is very famous. Her voice was beautiful when she sang it. Everyone in this movie had performed humorously and were great. Some actors acted as two characters, and I didn't even notice it because their acting was very good.
I didn't think it was a fun movie, but maybe it's because I am young. I guess adults will enjoy this. Even though it wasn't enjoyable for everyone, this was a great movie!
